Company Profile

Known for personal service Stevenson & Palmer Engineering, Inc. has served a number of clients continuously for over forty years. The operation of three fully staffed offices in Albany, Augusta, and Atlanta, Georgia, allows rapid response to meet client’s needs. Stevenson & Palmer stays involved in every project from concept to the completion of construction. After construction, engineers and specialists are available to assist with operation and maintenance questions as they arise. The company’s commitment to the client is indefinite, and has extended throughout the life of the facility of many projects.

History

The philosophy that drives Stevenson & Palmer Engineering, Inc. emerged from the association of three dynamic individuals. Mr. Earl Stevenson, Jr., a Civil Engineer, Mr. John Miller and Mr. John Steinichen, both Urban Planners, formed a union which has progressed to exemplify those traits inherit to the company itself.

The company has undergone several name changes since its inception; however, quality services for a reasonable price continues to be a cornerstone toward doing business. The company's primary clients were and still are municipalities and counties throughout Atlanta and all across Georgia. Stevenson & Palmer Engineering, Inc. provides a full array of engineering consulting services.

Mr. Stevenson began his career after graduating from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1953. After working in construction for a few years he joined a local engineering firm where he earned his Professional Engineer registration. In early 1960, Mr. Stevenson, Mr. Miller and Mr. Steinichen decided to form a partnership. By June of 1960, the corporation of Miller, Stevenson & Steinichen, Inc. was born.

1960 – Earl Stevenson founded Miller, Stevenson & Steinichen, Inc. to meet the needs of industry and communities throughout the southeast.

1979 – Mr. Miller and Mr. Steinichen retire.

1980 – Joe Palmer joined the firm, adding an office in Camilla, Georgia.

1984 – Name of the company was changed to Stevenson & Palmer, Inc.

1992 – The corporate name was changed to Stevenson & Palmer Engineering, Inc. The Camilla office moved to Albany.

1993 – Stevenson & Palmer became partially employee owned through the establishment of the initial ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan). Board of Directors expands from two members to six members.

1995 - The final ESOP was completed. Mr. Stevenson & Mr. Palmer semi-retire.

1996 – Mr. Stevenson and Mr. Palmer fully retire from active work.

1998 – Mr. Stevenson and Mr. Palmer retire from the Board of Directors.

1999 – Stevenson & Palmer expanded the company with the merger with Freeman & Vaughn Engineering, Inc.; acquiring offices in Savannah.

1999 - Acquired eGeo Services, Inc. as wholly owned subsidiary.   eGeo is a firm based in Savannah specializing in the remediation of contaminated soils and groundwater.

2000 – Office opened in Augusta, Georgia.

2005 – Acquired the assets of the Albany engineering office of Keck & Wood, Inc.

2006 - Acquired Saussy Engineering, P.C. as wholly owned subsidiary; Saussy is a firm based in Savannah specializing in structural and civil/site design.

2007 - Sold eGeo Services, Inc., Saussy Engineering, P.C., and assets of SPE's Savannah office to AEVenue, LLC.
